Question and Answer

Q. Why do we do Pooja (Prayer)?

A.  Pooja is a ceremonial act of showing reverence to a God or Goddess through invocation, prayer, bhajan and ritual. We are trying to establish communion with God. Through this act of pooja we establish a direct contact with the deity towards whom we are doing the pooja. Once this contact is established we are able to feel the presence of that deity's cosmic energy in our environment and that helps uplift our spirits. Pooja helps us express our love and devotion and helps calm and purify our mind. Once our mind is purified, we are able to see, within ourselves, the divine presence which is all pervading.
